Remember, there are also Indestructibles and Everlastings in both 2 and 4 minute formats to choose from (what sort of reproducer does it have: C or H or...? The first two are not especially rare, so you can have one for both formats).

Yeah... I kind of figured that my music style options would be limited.
I have the H reproducer.
What do you mean by "The first two are not especially rare"? Are you talking about reproducers or cylinders?
Are there new recordings of the old cylinders available anywhere? Do they get re-cut?
So my original question... besides eBay, who sells cylinders online?
I was referring to the reproducers. Model Cs turn up quite frequently
As for "new" records, there are a couple of sources: Norman Bruderhofer, for one, and then there are the "Vulcan" cylinders. Granted, they're expensive; but there are some very rare selections available.

The only one I know who has a posted "for sale" list of cylinders is intertique.com. I have not purchased anything from them, but I understand them to have a good reputation.

The major recording issue IMO is that the majority of Blue Amberols were dubbed from Diamond Discs, in a cost-saving measure, starting in 1915. This continued with a few exceptions until the end of the era in 1929.
Dubbed cylinders started around about #2500. Those below (1500-2500) were direct recordings, and therefore better-sounding than the later ones.
That's good to know.
And below 1500 were wax I suppose?
The wax Amberols, I believe (without having current access to my books) had a different numbering system.
The Blue Amberol series started with #1500. Many wax Amberol molds were used during the Blue Amberol run and were assigned new numbers accordingly.
Alan Sutton's Mainspring Press books on both Amberol and Blue Amberol cylinders are the best reference books I know, and they won't be reprinted. If they interest you I'd suggest you order them soon:
