They claim each needle could play 54,000 sides (27,000 records.) If this is true, there probably aren't many empty ones around! I've been using the same one for years and there's no end in sight.

I recall it being posted here somewhere, but I don't remember which thread. You can probably find it if you hunt around/search a little. I don't personally know.
