The seller should try the same tack as National Lampoon did back in '73:

"Buy this humpback or we'll smash it to bits/set it afire/push it off a bridge!"

He'd be better off parting it out for sales purposes (not that I'm advocating that sort of thing).

Seriously? I wouldn't buy this style of phonograph, & I also see it's been refinished, but is this type of machine really that unpopular? :?

Plus, who'd want to pay to ship it? If it was free I still wouldn't pay to ship it!

I also think that humpbacks are worthless (though I'll make an exception for the 330 that estott mentioned). Still and all, I wouldn't let somebody so much as give me one, 'cause then I'd have the bother of getting rid of it.

I'm reminded of a guy at the local flea market who had a Victor portable (don't remember which) in rough shape, that he was demonstrating records on. I asked him how much he wanted for the machine, but he said that it wasn't for sale, and that a fella in Texas offered him $500.00 for it, but he wouldn't sell. I just thought, "man, you should've taken the money and then run as far and fast as possible".

I think part of the problem with hump backs is that they're neither fish nor fowl. Is it an upright smushed into console form, or is a a console trying to be an upright?

Ok, well I guess that says it all!
Note to self: Never accept a free humpback Victrola. No one will want it should I need to get rid of it.

Some offers are just too good to turn down, so I'm surprised he turned down that $500 offer.

The seller seems to be slowing starting to figure things out...he cut the bid to $525, and a buy it now of $580....still way off...but at least he's moving in the right direction.

I noticed on ebay he is selling firewood too! Maybe he got mixed up on the whole thing and is firewood. Gives off a nice Victor gentle natural scent!

Now it's down to $425.00 for an opening bid, and $480.00 for a buy it now price. That means it's finally at a point where it's only about 10 times what I'd pay for it if I wanted it, which I don't.
