Of interest to me currently is the felt washer and metal washer to hold the felt, which I found below the winding gear on the Columbia motor. I don’t recall seeing this on the motor from my HMV 102, and it’s not on the motor from this electrola 102.
Looks handy for keeping oil from dripping into the spring barrel, or maybe to keep the grease in the spring barrel?
Does anyone have an extra 1 or 2 of these to spare (along with the spring? I can easily source the felt, but making a sheet metal piece like this is a tiny bit harder… though definitely not impossible.
The last picture shows the Columbia gear and arbor on the left, the electrola/HMV gear on the right. The electrola doesn’t have the hole drilled into the gear for the spring, but that is easily remedied.

I don't remember the 102, but the 101 motor no59 has the same thick felt washer and the wire and the metal washer...

from eBay, I see that the motor from my post-merger 202 is an HMV model 69? looks identical to the 59. I haven't found a good website to ID the various HMV parts, unfortunately.

This motor is a 69, quite different from the 270 series, which have an all-steel chassis and an intermediate gear in the winding train. The 69 is the same as the 59, except that it has a horizontal winding shaft - it was originally used in the 103 and 104 table grands.
They do not all have that felt washer; it was introduced to cure a problem with wear in the winding gear due to lack of lubrication on early 59 motors and, I assume 69s as well, though I know of this problem only from reports of the 101 in Germany when the 59 motor came in. Dealers asked for a return to the previous 410 motor. Hayes concluded that lubrication was the problem, and after some experiments came up with the felt washer. The thick felt acts like a wick, the wire clip keeping it fixed top the wheel so that it revolves with it and lubricates the worm.

The 69 and the 270 series seem to share many parts, even if the one has a cast end and the other is sheet steel.
The governor, main shaft, the intermediate shaft between the main shaft and the spring barrel, the spring barrel, are all the same. There’s not much more there besides the gear from the winder to the gear on the arbor of the spring barrel.
