Rest in Peace Charley, you'll be missed by us all.

I'm in shock and in disbelief. Charlie has been a friend and mentor to me for nearly 30 years. He was a great guy and very knowledgeable. I always enjoyed seeing him at the Union and Orlando shows and we'd sit and chat for hours. He will be missed, but I'm glad to have so many fond memories. My condolences to the Hummel family.

As many have said, Charley has been one of the most helpful and influential people in our hobby. He truly loved anything Edison and was always willing to share his vast knowledge.
The many visits to his home before the Wayne show are a wonderful memory of the friendships which have been a part of my own 46 year collecting journey.
His collection included many one-of-a-kind items--- but all are overshadowed by this one-of-a-kind man. Charley will be missed by hundreds who have had the opportunity to learn from him.

I am praying for his family.

Very sorry to hear the news. Charley Hummel was a great guy and one of my biggest mentors in the record and phonograph hobby. I always looked forward to seeing him at Wayne and attending the gatherings at his home. He will be missed by all. My deepest condolences to the Hummel family.

Rest In Peace Mr. Hummel. I was looking forward very much to attending the after-show at his home on the saturday Wayne show. He will be missed greatly I wish my deepest condolences to his family. The first and only time I spoke to him was at the wayne show last september. He immediately started speaking to me as a young collector and allowed me to hold the doll amberol cylinder mold (the one that was mentioned in the march edition of the antique phonograph). May god rest his soul.

Always a fixture at the Union shows that I attended. I never had the opportunity to speak with him, but always enjoyed the extraordinary items he brought to show & sell. In truth, I was too much in awe of the wonderful items he brought and the extreme knowledge he had, to enter into a conversation with him, feeling that I couldn't "hold my own" in light of his great knowledge. Too bad that I felt that way. I clearly missed out.

I thought some may be interested in this article written about Charley a number of years ago. One picture includes his wife Bobbie who passed away quite some time ago. She was a sweetheart of a lady who welcomed collectors into her home, just like Charley.
