I agree- Let's not give him any more "clicks". My curiosity made me open it-- Wish I hadn't--
Here's a word picture---> Very nice portable machine sitting on the floor- Guy in work boots next to it- ALL you ever see are the boots. He proceeds to kick at the record, breaking it- then the reproducer, then breaks up the cabinet- (I scrolled ahead in the video)----The nice internal horn is smashed and bent-- then he takes a pick-ax to finish his "work". Really stupid.. Sorry I gave him the time of day and the "click"... Sick dude!

Wouldn't it be too bad if someone treated his skull the same way he treated that poor portable? That would be a video I'd watch!
Spoiler alert - people who live their lives like this usually end up getting what's coming to them.
As I tell my Gen Z niece almost every day - you don't even have to try hard to excel far above 90% of your cohorts.

It's just some @sshat stomping on a Decca portable. He has a whole 1.5k views over the past year, and 109 subscribers. Don't give him the traffic. As the saying goes, "don't feed the trolls"
Perhaps I should delete the link, and re-write the initial post? Views or clicks never crossed my mind. Don't know what to do now.....outune wrote: Wed Apr 26, 2023 11:53 am I agree- Let's not give him any more "clicks". My curiosity made me open it-- Wish I hadn't--

When it comes to mental health disorders, any number of reasons are likely.
The quality of the items has me thinking that this person is destroying items belonging to a parental figure who valued these things more than the individual.

The type of behavior is displayed on this video is, of course, appalling to those of us with normal sensibilities. But do not be shocked. This type of thing has always been around, although it seems to be spreading. And in this modern age, it has greater platforms than ever in which to perform.
The reasons behind this arrogantly destructive behavior are probably not appropriate to explain on this thread due to the forum rules. But I do understand it well. To those of you who are genuinely interested in the "why" of all this, send me a PM. I will do my best to explain (if I don't get overrun with PMs).

It's a little like some of the banger racing crowd who race and destroy a great classic car which could be restored, seemingly just for oneupmanship and grim spectacle.

I just don't understand this mindset. It's the kind of mentality where it's more important to "own" the person with the different sensibility than use a little common sense. I saw one video with the caption "the restorers are going to love this." It was a video of someone demo'ing a mid-century modern bathroom. I get that not everyone wants a vintage bathroom. I get that sometimes old bathrooms just start to fail and need renovation. But this individual proceeded to take a sledge hammer to a teal bath tub. The tub was in great condition before. The walls were knocked out, so there was no doubt it could be carried out whole. Heck, most architectural salvage places would have come and picked it up on site. He just wanted to "stick it" to preservationists by beating this tub to oblivion so no one could ever hope to reuse it. Why? Why be a [donkey] when you literally gain nothing by your actions, and deprive some person you never met of potential?
