Well, two things I can say about that...
1. It probably worked.
2. If it hadn't been done, the whole machine probably would have been scrapped.

It was a "good" repair in that it allowed the machine to limp along until it could be properly repaired.

New springs are in! I’ll post a video on my phono Instagram tomorrow of it running. Will put a link here
