Re: Edison Polyphone on Ebay 10K
The sellers are the Donley's, who have run the Union phonograph show for over 30 years. They are slowly selling a few selected pieces from their museum, which is filled with glorious, untouched machines. They know what they have. Evidently for this one they didn't have the horns, so they're selling it for what it is.

Re: Edison Polyphone on Ebay 10K
Knowing this is from the Donleys, good ole boys Union IL, I cannot believe the bogus description of the machine. It doesn't even mention the Polyphone attachment, is the only thing special about the machine! Sure it's in the title, but to not mention it in the description?
"This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen"
Are you kidding me? I guess they have forgotten what they have displayed in their own museum!
"The phonograph did not come with a horn originally. I think I may have had a speaking tube with this at one time."
What? The machine did not come with horns originally? Really? Speaking tube?? Really?
My only guess is that the Donleys have someone who is not very knowledgeable on phonographs doing the listing for them.
I used to visit Larry Donley often to buy Edison parts back in the 1970s. I know he would know better than that!
