Here are the photos of my early VV-IV parts machine. Took a while to get the pictures to load and I hope they did after all! Serial number is in the low 4000's. It's missing a lot but does clearly have the round brake. The better example I was able to acquire has a serial number in the 6,000's and has the scissors brake however if that is removed there are holes that would fit the round brake beneath it. I've been fascinated by all the little changes in early Victrola's for many years. The Victor Data Book was so helpful when it came out. Good luck on your restoration! Bob

thanks for the pics and info - The Victor Data Book is a great resource. Around S/N 53xx, the switch to the scissor brake happened
