Well the Table Grand Style No. 9 and the Library Bijou Grand No. 12 were both featured in the 1911 catalogues and both were fitted with the new horn first - the all cast iron with wooden flare, yes, but with that said I believe they are both 1910 models.

Thank you very much Jerry and Steve.

I do particularly like walnut floor standers I must admit.

Oh well, one door closes and three or four others open apparently.

You really should buy this! It's £100 and unlikely to attract a single bid otherwise.

I already have a Sheraton Gramophone Grand, Junior Grand and Style 12 from this period of HMV, I can't house any more!

If you don't know already, the 12 was the most expensive of the British market Library Bijou Grands, sporting the new horn design. The 13 / 14 models were a more contemporary "gramophone design" fitted with the older style wooden horn (albeit with cast throat) and rear door access. They are bigger models and have the generous record storage facility however, hence why these two were more expensive with the 14 being the most expensive machine in the 1911 catalogue.

So are you interested? :x
I have only recently (and not before time) moved countless gramophones out of the house to store them in two 'portable lock-ups'. My favourite ones remain indoors together with thousands of 78 records etc. The end result is that I still can't use the gramophone room due to lack of space

Sadly therefore, it's a 'no sale' for me over here.

Well, there we have it, one bid made.

I am not someone who can speak with any authority about gramophone condition, general desirability etc but I must admit that I am envious in terms of the person who acquires this.

I just personally really like it very much.

Maybe the person who buys it will be on the forum and will let us know how it sounds etc.

I hope so.

As an owner of a Junior Grand and Gramophone Grand, I can tell you exactly how it will sound as they all share the same horn system. Only the cabinet designs are different with a different approach to record storage.

They sound similar to one of the early table models, perhaps marginally better but bear in mind the limitations of the soundbox, tonearm and small (compared to a large flower horn) horn aperture.
