Adding to Mr. Paul's comment regarding "D" versus "D2", the later D2 models had a spiral oil groove in the back rod (carriage support), four-weight governor with dual "pivoting" friction pads, horizontal carriage for O or Diamond B Reproducer, and cygnet horn. They were / are essentially the same as the model "E".

I have a Triumph D1 which is still correct (straight horn, 3 weight governor) and am curious how precise the serial dating can be for these. I bought it from Forum member Lee Baker, thanks to him for keeping it in good shape and putting a lid with it (albeit one from an earlier green cabinet.)

Runs great btw. This is easily the most user-friendly Edison phonograph I've owned this side of my Diamond Disc machine.

As noted in the APS magazine article of December 2019, dating the Triumphs isn't as precise as dating the Gems, Standards, Homes, and Concerts. But based on known production benchmarks and sales figures, dating can reliably be made within a range of 3-6 months.
