Here's another early early Home I completely refinished. I like rubbing out the shellac after it has cured with orange furniture liquid wax and "0000" steel wool to take some of the shine off, and add character to make it look old.

EdisonPhonographGuy wrote:yes I used painters tape to make each line and waited for it to dry then added the 90 degree line and went like that. Took a while. I'm sure I won't get $$ for the hours i'm putting into it. I just enjoy doing it. This one didn't have the scrolls (swoops) on the end. I was really surprised how bad the paint was and how good the actual metal was under. Really no pitting as you would find on alot of them. I did put a coat over it, BUT, the water transfers from Wyatt's are very nice and i literally couldn't see the edges before coating. I just like their stuff.
I feel the same way my friens it's not the $$ it is the many hours of enjoyment we get out of doing such things . I call it Bringing Back History to life heres a pic of what Mine use to look like.\
there is still much cabnit work to be done and i have no lid and no $$ to purchase a lid

EdisonPhonographGuy your restoration is superb.
I want that machine.Yum.
As for painting the motor frame.Good on you.Better than Edison.
Thank you for showing it.
May I ask what kind of paint you used for the black paint.
Is it automotive laquer?
Did you paint the whole bed plate with this same paint?
It looks very shinny and nice.

I too would like to know what product you are using for the black paint.
I have a "banner" Home B that is in nearly the same condition as your "before", only someone started to "restore" it...
Your photos are inspiring !
