"VICTROLA - $450 (Cahaba Heights)
This piece is very stunning. I don't think I have ever seen a nicer one. Guess what a ton of records comes with it and the needles! Just grab a brandy or beer and listen to Caruso.
Call 205-936-6905 for my melodic details. What a conversation piece!"

I doubt it -- all of those are hoarded up in North Carolina!

In determining rarity and collector interest is the type of finish that is used. As a rule, machines in mahogany or oak are the most common, whereas darker woods, mahogany or painted are much more rare and valuable. This is a fully functional RCA Victrola and an incredible addition to your antique collection.
1000.00 obo, pickup only.
This one is the "extra dark mahogany" version so its a rare bird.

Okay, because I am new to this board and only stumbled upon this thread today, my comment with regards to this post is somewhat tardy...schweg wrote:"NICE MAHONY VICTROLA - $150 (FROSTBURG, MD)
Ah Ha, now we know what happened to Jerry Mahoney when he retired!!
Long before he was the voice of 'Tigger' in the Winnie the Pooh series, Paul Winchell and his puppet pal Jerry Mahoney starred in many early TV programs; the first was on NBC in 1948 called The Bigelow Show. (1948 was the first year that the networks began programming seven nights a week; in fact, NBC had only 9 regular series on the air in 1947.)
I wonder if there's a rare Knucklehead Smithophone out there somewhere in storage just waiting to be discovered...
Steve
I was literally laughing out loud when I read this response. I also thought of the old Winchell Mahoney Time show I watched as a child; I admit my twisted mind immediately began forming similar name associations with both Jerry Mahoney and, yes, Knucklehead Smith. Steve, you beat me to the punch on that one.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane, and a much needed laugh.

Granted, the photo on CL is terrible, and I must admit being a newcomer puts me in about the worst position to make a judgement call... but does anyone else think this looks strangely similar to the India knock-off reproductions being hawked on Ebay?antique1973 wrote:http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/atq/1815891471.html
