Zeppy, the picture of my Edisonic was taken at the picnic the day before the "official" Union Show started. The Elgin Lutheran Church sponsored a place for show attendees to buy & trade. Funny, I didn't buy it at the picnic; I waited 2 more days.

Wow, what a super find. A fairly scarce Edison, and in absolutely great condition as well.

Here is my other great find for 2008. A fairly hard to find Columbia Model AB Graphophone from 1901, also referred to by Collectors as a MacDonald, after Thomas MacDonald, the chief engineer of Columbia who designed it. It is unique open works machine, in that it can be adjusted and fitted with a telescoping Mandrel to play the larger 5" Concert Cylinders. This was a great find, as it was a local call from a lady who was selling some yard sale items she had accumulated over the last 10 years. She bought this, played it a few times, and then it languished on a shelf on her book case for years. I had never seen an AB before, so I wasn't sure what Model it was or what it was worth, but the price at the time seemed reasonable so I bought it. Here are a few photos of the Ornate Case, and the AB set up for both standard size and 5" Concert Cylinders.

Yes, I recall, we exchanged emails (victrolaman). If you still have it the serial number should be stated.

Seems like we are the only "Jacobeanians" out here..

but isn't that the model that was supposed to have a very dark, if not lacquered, finish over the oak?

this one has been refinished, right? is it the same machine that was discussed - regarding the restoration - on one of the older boards a year or so ago?

I found my best (phonographic) find about 6 weeks ago; I highlighted it in a thread on our previous forum...

Wow, what a fantastic addition. The Victor V is an absolutely classic Gramophone, and the horn looks like new/old stock !! and check out that gorgeous grain on the cabinet. That is one great show piece.

My great '08 find was an 1898 AT Graphophone with low serial number in the early squared A case. The real cool thing was that it came with a simplex shaving attachment which I had been after for several years. I had this machine posted at the old board and here's it again:

Could you tell me whether or not you used something on your Vic V horn to make it so shiney? Wax or tung oil?

Noman i have always liked that machine of yours And i have an H&S catologe where i thought they show a pic of one but its just an advertisment.There is an advertisment though for a Mascot Shaving Knife.And it says that you Knife cost $5.00
