Good point, George. It is unique but the fact that it was previously unknown puts it in a lower realm than the very popular Bettini and Polyphone attachments. Now that its existence is documented it may well turn out to be the next Biophone - a very desirable, albeit bizarre, footnote to phonograph history.

Personally, I'm surprised it didn't go higher, and I've congratulated the buyer. He reports that the seller has received emails from unsuccessful bidders expressing remorse that they didn't bid higher, and to let them know if the deal falls through, etc...

In a market where Bettini Attachments and Polyphone Attachments (which exist by the dozens) are valued above $6000, I thought this Keen Attachment (the only one I've ever heard of) would go for more than it did. A fully-documented accessory from 1907, possibly the only survivor, in nice condition, with such visual impact, is not something often encountered. I'd love to have it! :)

George P.
Well stated George. There will always be a market for rare and interesting items. I too expected to see it go for more. Congrats to the new owner.

In an ocean of the usual Edison Standards, Homes, etc., it's no surprise that anything odd or unusual commands high interest and subsequently high dollars.
