In the second before picture you posted, there's a small metal plate attached to the inside of the lid. Why wasn't it re-attached to the inside of the lid after the restoration?

Good catch, i noticed it to. Its on my list when i make some final adjustmemts this weekend. It wasnt in the parts box for some reason when i did reassembly. I can reassemble a Victrola with my eyes closed but had to look at the pictures i took at disassembly to put the motor back together on this one. My first and most likely last Sonora. The veneer is much thinner on these compared to Victrola, gave me some problems when fixing the loose veneer, also chips easy at bottom.
