I could not agree more.
Well I would love to know more about the book that you have mentioned.
I guess the measurement tape is usually 0.009 inches or 9.23 mm.
Thanks ๐Ÿ™ ๐ŸŒน

See screenshot.
Thanks for your suggestion ๐ŸŒน

Nice work! They do look a little inconsistent with the side to side spacing of the holes, so it might pay to refine the jig a little bit to get everything centered just right. Every little bit helps in getting things easily balanced and keeping the spring strength consistent.

Just a data point to add here, every governor spring that Iโ€™ve measured so far has been 0.0065โ€ / 0.16mm thick.

Yes that is the correct size and the one used in measuring tapes.
Cheers

Looking forward to seeing the progress! One thing Iโ€™ve never done much with is metal punches to make holes. Looks like a very handy skill/tools to have.

I am interested in mainsprings at the moment, but canโ€™t find an inexpensive source of the 301 stainless steel spring stock that I want to experiment with.

For punching square or round hole, the best tools are (I) bench stand for ordinary drill machine and (II) square or round hole bit/punchers of the specific hole size. These two item are cheaply available at ali express and daraz. I am not sure but someone mentioned here about the availability of steel strip on eBay on very economical rates. Best
