Weekend auction finds

I know I'm crazy, but I couldn't resist these project machines. Went to a local auction and found these that had been neglected in a storage unit for years. Got all this, parts and picture, and machines for $110. Thought I would part them out, but I think they are worth restoring. Motors are good on all of them and most all parts are there. The cabinets are rough but I've fixed worse! I'll post after pics when finished. The obsession grows. Boy my kids are going to have a BIG sale when I'm gone! Ed

I really like the looks of that Silvertone. See, I do have a soft soot for off brands hahaha

The first one looks like an Aelion (can't remember how to spell the name!)and I really like the Edison with the bottom shelf. Great find!

You have enough projects there to keep you occupied all Winter. What a find and all in one sale!

I also have an interest in the more obscure makes, some of which were of good quality and technical merit.

There should be no place for "lid transfer snobbery" in our hobby.

Congratulations! Great finds. I have the same problem, have a hard time passing on poor neglected machines. That's why my new car is out on the driveway and the old "junk" is in the garage.

I really love that Edison.

My wife loves that old photograph of the young lady - is it an original print? My wife would buy it from you if you decide to ever sell the framed print.

Fantastic finds!, the first one looks a bit like the "shellophone", a very strange (and uncommon) off brand machine, really like that picture aswell!, great!

That is the first one I tackled. Actually I've been up since 4am working on them. Like a kid at Christmas! The Silvertone has a beautiful oak cabinet with very little veneer lifting. I've already refinished that one and the Victrola. Will post pics soon! Ed

The trouble is these won't last me a week. I have been up since 4 this am working on these!! Already have the silvertone and the victrola glued up and refinished. have torn down the two motors and re-lubed them. my last step is rebuilding the reproducers. That won't take long. Now where do I put these %#@$ things? Ed

Brian, The print is actually a photograph, looks to have been done in the 1940's or 50's. The machine in the pic is a Victor-VI just like one I have. I am notorious for getting rid of things that I get tired of so I will keep you in mind and let you know ED
