Sad News-The passing of "Mr. Victor" Bob Johnson

Post by Jerry B. »

It is with a heavy heart that I must report the passing of collector and friend, Bob Johnson. Bob died yesterday after a brief illness. He was known in phono circles as "Mr. Victor" and was known worldwide for his unmatched collection of the rarest Victrolas as well as his generosity and willingness to share his knowledge with the collecting community. Bob will be missed. Jerry Blais

I'm sorry too to hear the news. Bob sold me a nice oak Amberola 1A back in 2006, and helped with the shipping arrangements cross-country, along with a superb crating job. I wish I had the chance to meet him in person. My condolences to his family.

Before making one of my first purchases I emailed him for advice. He was very helpful and kind. I must admit I was shocked he even emailed me back. Sad news to hear of such a nice man and avid collectors passing.

For those who have not seen the the Mr. Victor site, here it is.
I had met Bob and wife Karen at the Union show a few years ago. Very nice folks. Sad to hear of his passing. :(

Folks,
It's always sad to hear of the passing of a fellow collector. I had several discussions with Bob concerning Amberola 1As. He was a very nice person to be associated with and my hope and prayers go out to Bob and his family.

I first met Bob and his wife Karen back in 2000.He had the missing parts to a Victrola Credenza I was restoring. He gave me those parts at no charge. I was always grateful to him. He will be greatly missed in the hobby. RIP Bob.

Shocking is the word all right. When I heard about Bob last night I couldn't believe it. He seemed so fit and healthy. I'm still in shock.

Sincere condolences to his family.
