Questions about Credenza grills

Post by barnettrp21122 »

My Credenza grill, serial number 27112, pictured below right, has three lower pillars. Any pictures I find in "Look For The Dog" and "The Victor Data Book" show grills with two pillars, with no mention of when the change occurred. Anyone know the details?
Also, I picked up the grill on the left, thinking it was a Credenza grill. It's slightly smaller, however, measuring 16 ½ by 34 inches. Which model is this from? Thanks!

The grill on the left looks like it came from a Borgia or a 9-40. Those have a mounting bar only on the right side. I have a two door Credenza, serial number 10172. it has a grill which does not have the middle vertical bar. This one is unusual because it has two arches attached to the grill that extend over the record shelves. All one piece. I've never noticed that variation before. There must be several variations of this grill.

I have a number of Credenzas and they have either two or three bars. I think that the earlier ones had two bars, the next had three bars and the 8-30s had two bars. The 8-30s also have some more decoration along the bottom along with another bar going around the bottom of the cabinet. I'm not around any of them at the minute so all of this is guesswork until I actually look at them again...

Mine, serial #15,860, dating from early 1926, has the 3 lower bars.

Try to save the cloth if you can. A duplicate of the original type is almost impossible to get now.
