WTB - Oak Horn for Victor V

Post by sosumi »

Currently I have a really nice Model H 13-¾" Japanned Steel Horn, that I would love to have replaced by a preferably 18-½" Oak Horn. Condition is important so I would be interested in either an original or a quality reproduction.

Will trade the Steel Horn plus cash for wood horn, if that helps.

Terry

PS Will be in Chicago during Thanksgiving weekend.

Watch eBay, someone in Peru (of all places) makes excellent replicas. Read his customer feedback.

As a matter of fact..... Eduardo in Peru makes an excellent product. He makes both mahogany & oak spear tip horns for Victor's. He also makes an excellent Herzog Victor 6 record cabinet and some have been sold at Union.
I had couple of small carved parts missing on one of my Herzog record cabinets and he make exact "hand carved" copies. You just can't tell which is his... :o. He or his craftsmen(s) are just that good.
If any member needs his email contact.....please pm me.

Found his email on an older post. Wish I knew about him when I had my Victor III. I was in need of a corner column. I was watching one of his auctions on a 22" horn. Shoulda gone after it.

Thanks!

Is there a reason to wait for one of his horns to be offered on ebay? How do the ebay prices compare to his price when you deal with him directly? Jerry

Sorry Jerry. I can't answer that question as I have not bought a horn from him. That is a question he could answer. All I can state is the quality of what I have had done by him. Also, many may be concerned dealing long distance (Peru) not knowing what to expect. Therefore, in my opinion the man is 100%.
By the way, he can carve the claw feet that you find on many Herzog cabinets. They are prefect in every detail. However, it must be said that his work is not cheap and You pay for what you get.

Hello,
I emailed the fellow in Peru and asked for a price on a horn. I was told that they do not sell the horns direct but only through Ebay. That said some of his Victor horns do sell at times for under $800. Just depends how many bidders there are that day. I would prefer to buy direct and not have to screw around trying to out bid someone!

I'll second what Harvey says, Don does beautiful work. I have an oak cygnet horn (Music Master) he made for my Triumph, it's beautiful. He's also repaired a few wooden horns for me and his repairs are not only first class, but he's very reasonable.
