Question on U.S. Phonograph Company machine

Post by rgordon939 »

I may have an opportunity to purchase a U.S. Cylinder Phonograph with horn in nice condition. What would you all think is a fair price on this machine? Don't have a picture of it yet.

Thanks
Rich Gordon

The price would depend very much on the reproducer, and if it is working or even repairable. I've seen otherwise very nice US machines sit around because the pot metal reproducer had turned into a crumbled mess.

It would also depend upon which model, which horn (if any), and the condition.

It's a Opera model with the horn in good condition. Can either of you give me a range in price for this machine?

A picture
(or several) would speak 1000 words in this case....

There's a little info, pics or adverts of four different models on my website if that helps.

The Junior that you will see there has a totally overhauled reproducer so it works. The reproducer was basically recreated by Paul Baker several years ago. I don't think he's interested in doing another but if he is, it would be pretty expensive, expectedly so.
