Hi
Is it worth replating a Mandrel or is it easier and cheaper to buy another mandrel with good plating on it?

You should be able to get a mandrel for your phonograph from many of the parts dealers listed in the LINKS section http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... ?f=8&t=195. I would first try George Vollema at Great Lakes, he has the largest original parts inventory. He could also repair your spring if needed.
