HMV 202 for sale in Dorset, UK

Post by dd2u »

As found here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Grama ... 0721373870

No mention of the model number, and incorrect spellings in the title. At least it is listed in the gramophone section. Despite making it as hard to find as possible, I think this seller will get a nice surprise, assuming that anyone who already knew the value would have listed it with more care. Already at £2550, and probably heading to around £7000.

Do you know what's laughable about this? It's now up to £4000, the seller has had lots of questions and interest and yet they still have not updated / improved the listing with anything like a decent photograph(s) and accurate description. On the other hand, they are also selling a rabbit hutch with more pictures included than on the 202 listing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The machine belonged to the "mother-in-law" apparently and the seller is obviously oblivious to its value aside from the keen bidding already underway. You might think or hope that someone would be a little excited about it, rub their hands together with glee, see the pound notes and respond properly to some ******ing questions!!!!! Maybe they are rich and £4000 means nothing to them. I hope they don't expect £4000 for the rabbit hutch as well then! Some people............

Er, I wasn't suggesting for a minute you were ignorant, maybe happily oblivious to what was going on?

Anyway, I trust you are the real owner and this isn't a scam like we've seen so many times before. The word is that this listing might be such a scam as it unfortunately has a familiar ring to it. That's unfair to you if it isn't. However, it is unusual for a vendor without knowledge and interest in what it is they're selling to join a forum like this one after listing an item for sale. Anyway.....I hope you'll forgive my little petulant outburst and allow me to help you? I must apologize for that. No offence was meant.

In Ebay you can revise your listing at anytime by clicking on the 'Revise Item' tab on the RHS of the item as listed in "My Selling". Simply click on that tab and you can add further text and / or pictures as you wish.

I haven't sold much on Ebay for a while so I'm a bit rusty myself but I know it is possible and not too difficult.

By the way, I'm certain you wouldn't mind if that rabbit hutch did rocket in price? It might do, in the 'fallout' from the HMV 202 auction!

Not a problem, as it's already in the correct category anyway!

Well, not many scammers invite buyers to pay with cash when they pick the actual machine up - so I don't think it looked like a scam at all. Scammers tend to be pay pal only and then dissapear without trace....

By the way Tracy that is one great machine and one many collectors of gramophones wished they could afford to add to their collection. I hope you get near the full £7,000 as that will make a very nice early chrsitmas present :)
