Flea market find : signed photograph of Edward Johnson of the Columbia and Victor list. The dedication is hard to read but I think it says To "Lucia" an affectionate souvenir. It must date from the mid twenties. I was looking on line in Google Images and there is photo which is another pose obviously from the same session : same style of photo ...same necktie...same carnation. I wonder which " Lucia" it was dedicated to.
I've found Johnson stuff before. He was born in Guelph which is about 50 miles from Toronto and after he retired from the Metropolitan he came back to Toronto and joined the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto.

Re: Signed Edward Johnson photo
Great find! I have a program autographed by Mary Garden somewhere in my books, I'll have to post it. Ironically found it in a box of old newspaper clippings and "Opera News" back issues a while back.

Just happened to find it. From a 1928 program of the Chicago Civic Opera. The program looks like it once also contained Rosa Raisa's signature but someone obviously cut that out from a subsequent page.
