This one has been listed on and off for a few weeks now. Definitely looks refinished.
Any other opinions? It's not mine.

I didn't go to the Orlando show this year but I suspect you could find similar machines for less money at the show. Jerry

Is there anything special about it? Funny that he shows it with a Blue Amberol it cannot possibly play ....

Not sure if it's been refinished but the lid is a different shade to the base, so somethings not quite right. Gordon

Re: Edison Standard on Tampa CL
It looks like the case may have been over-coated with shellac or restore-a-finish. Nice early New case Model A: note the early lid moulding with the smoother top rather than the bead. It certainly looks to be right for the machine.
The color difference in the lid may come from the fact that the lids take more abuse and weathering than the case bodies. In my green oak Standard model A, the case was pretty good, but much of the lid finish was dry and flaking. Years ago, when I tried to stabilize the flaking lid with shellac, the lid on mine darkened somewhat. (I also used amber shellac which didn't help.) Anyway, something like that may be the cause for the color difference.
Regards,
Martin

Doesn't look refinished or even cleaned up for that matter. Lid looks fine.

Re: Edison Standard on Tampa CL
My opinion on worth:
If you plan to keep it: $200 - $250
If you plan to resell: $100 - $200
Overall it's a nice machine that could use a nice clean up.

Re: Edison Standard on Tampa CL
Thanks everyone.
I am just poking around the local area here in
FL seeing what's out there.
I would eventually like to find a cylinder machine to keep here in FL to use to make
test recordings and listen to them when the time
comes to make brown wax and cast blanks here.
So far I have confined all of my wax making and
blank casting to my old house up in Illinois
during summers.
A Standard, Home, Fireside, (or maybe a Triumph
if I wanted to splurge) equipped with 2/4 gearing would work well.
Thanks Steve for nailing the price for something like this.
