HI, I'M NEW TO THE FORUM, AND A YOUNG COLLECTOR. I'VE HAD A CHANCE TO BUY A Amberola VI and I was hoping If anyone could help me out with some info. There wasn't much I could find on the internet, and I do not know the value range. It has a tiger oak instead of mohagany case, and functions nicely. No chipped veneer, or major damage. Also if anyone has any info on an Edison model B80 DD I would appreciate any info on both machines.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
According to the book by George Frow, there were four Amberola VI Phonographs. There was a Model A-VI introduced in 1913. Another type, the Model B-VI came along later that year. in 1914, the Model C-VI was produced, which had the same type of motor as the previous model, a single spring Fireside model motor.
The last type, a Model D-VI was available, fitted with an Amberola 50 mechanism.
I am not sure of the value, but others on the forum can help.

I'm not sure if the model is A,B,C, or D, but I did not realize that there were more than A and B models. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I didn't have too much time to a detailed look. I bought an edisonic Schubert model and the DD b80 while I was there. Great additions to my collection.

If you follow this forum you will notice that members are often reluctant to give their opinion on Phonograph values. Probably because there are so many variables that can determine a machines worth. At the Union Antique Phonograph show last year there was a very nice DD B-80. It had the wrong reproducer in that it should have had one with a nickel finish and instead had one with a gold finish. The asking price was $200, which I felt was a very good deal. They are large and balky machines and have no record storage unless you are lucky enough to also have the matching record cabinet. The device that raises and lowers the reproducer can sometimes be tricky and may cause the reproducer to drop to fast onto the record surface. Having said that if I could find one locally in great shape I would pay up to $350.00 for it. Your Amberola VI is a more desirable machine in my opinion, especially in oak. I would value it somewhere between $400 to $600 depending on condition.

Hey thanks a lot. I understand that the values aren't set in stone, and just wasn't sure what ball park I was in . It is a nice machine though. My B80 is acally having theproblem the reproducer dropping, but it came with the nickel plated reproducer and plays. Has a mohagany case with original clothe even. Same thing with the edisonic minus the dropping reproduced.
