ISI Record.

Post by Lenoirstreetguy »

I'm curious about this one. Did I ask this before? If so do forgive my foggy brain. It's obviously from European and has two of the worst performances of a ragtime ditty that I have ever heard: they seemed to think playing at a breakneck pace was the way to do it. It plays at about 72 rpm, and the tri-lingual label is interesting. And it's pressed in Saxony.
Any ideas?

Hi,

Isiphon Record
I.S.I = "Internationale Schallplatten-Industrie" (International Record Industry), one of the oldest record companys in germany - founded 1910 in Leipzig/Saxony.
They used only selfmade records.
Your record is about 1912, most probably played by a local orchestra from Leipzig.

Much more, but in german...

It's more intersting than I thought: I assumed it was a bargain label for Odeon or something of the sort but it isn't. Thanks for the information.
