Anyone have a Pathéphone no.12??

Post by kirtley2012 »

Pathé machines are so hard to keep track of, for me being a large pain in the derrière.
in trying to find the correct motor for my Pathéphone 12, and as far, failing, i have found several different types that were fitted to the Pathéphone no.12, but as of yet, i am not 100% certain which mine had originally, my Pathé has had about 4 different motors in the past, the original is long gone, i need to find the original one, if you have a Pathéphone no.12, could you please post some pictures of the machine and its motor?, and if you have a spare motor, let me know! :)

Mine's badged as a Pathé Diamond No. 12 - a large machine, it will take the 20" discs.

Amazing! Thanks for prompting me to photograph the motor Alex - I've now tightened those nuts on the bottom - I've never worked on this motor and I had no idea they were working loose!

Here's a detail shot of the motor serial number.

thanks, that machine is very different to mine, mine has the very decorative calved cabinet and it has the start/stop as a push pull lever at the front of the cabinet.
thanks for those photos!

Yes, I imagine mine must be a late one.

On yours, do you mean it has one of the Pathé quick-start levers?

Here's the plate under the turntable identifying it as a No. 12.

I guess so too! Pathés are pretty baffling in their variety.

it is the same one in this thread
http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... 12&start=0

i am also missing the horn and elbow, as you can see in that thread, i was very tempted to part it out to earn some cash but, if i can find a motor cheap enough, i should be able to get a horn and elbow somewhere, i fixed the broken pot metal piece so i was going to do it, is it worth while, possibly, can i afford it... no... but its worth a shot!

i'll post some better photo's of it when my camera decides to come out of hiding....

I'll post some pics tomorrow. Pathé 12 motor ia a rectangular model ie 4 screws to attach to top board. the Pathé 2, 4, 6 & (I think) 8 have the triangular motor with 3 screws.

Horn support is iron but the connector piece for horn & tone-arm is "*ç%&/ potmetal.

The rectangular Pathé motor is not one that is easy to find.
