Murray style speed control..whats missing?

Post by a12548 »

I am reassembling a VV VIII from a box of parts which came with the phonograph, and this speed control seems odd. Is there supposed to be a spring on both ends. It has no spring affect with the one, not sure how thats supposed to be hooked. Does anyone have a photo of a similar working one? thanks!

Kind of looks like the set-up for the "crescent-style" speed control, c. 1914-1916 that Victor used between the round-dial and the "knob and indicator pointer" type.

The rod protrudes from the motor-board deck, and engages in a slotted-arm, attached to the speed-control pointer, IFRC... :?

If this is indeed the case with your machine, I'm not sure another spring is needed...

( The only machine I have with the crescent speed control is 200 miles away, at my Mom's, so I can't grab a look... ;) )
