I'm about to buy one and would like to know if it is a good investment. Only one side record. Thanks!

Generally speaking they are very common,, but as with all records, it really depends on who and what the recording is.
Keepin' it real.

What are they asking for it and does it play? I do not have an answer but I am very curious also since I have one of those too and am needing to sell it and the others.

Re: what's the rarity of a disk "Gramophone Monarch Record"?
I've always felt that the value of a record is the value I put on it. Sometimes a cheap/common record appeals to me, so I buy it, though it's of no value. Other times, I've paid quite a lot for certain records not because they were an investment, but because I wanted to hear and play them.
In fact, while I suspect my collection may be worth a good amount, the difficulty of selling and shipping is such that on top of the fact that I simply enjoy 99% of my records - the value of the whole is the pleasure it gives me. Let my executor deal with values and selling!

The label pictured cannot be later than 1907, when the title of The Gramophone and Typewriter Ltd reverted back to The Gramophone Company Ltd.howardpgh wrote:What era is this label?

This is a rather common disc which was recorded in June 1907. Its value is about $40 in excellent condition.

So much?
I gather that record values are somewhat higher in the Old World.
Over here I'd be happy to get $15.00 for a spare copy, though of course Kurt Nauck can fetch a worldwide premium.
