I just bought a mahogany Brunswick model 135 at an auction. It has an electric motor in it with the cord coming out through the crank escutcheon. I have seen Brunswick electric motors and it looks like this is a Brunswick one that was put in the phonograph in place of the wind up motor that was originally in it.
Two questions. First. Does anyone have any information about Brunswick supplying electric replacement motors? (I would like to know if I have a really cool thing; or a not so cool thing.)
Second, does anyone know where I can find a motor/bedplate mechanism and crank so I can put it back to the way it would have been originally. I would kind of like to have it back with an original mechanism and still have the electric motor as well for history sake.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not a Brunswick, but I have a Cheney phonograph set up the same way. Pretty sure it is original as it has a different crank escutcheon with an on/off switch built in. Perhaps Brunswick also ran their power through the crank hole.

Here is a large pdf file of the 1927 Brunswick parts catalog. It shows several different windup motors along with an electric. Hope this helps!

I don't know how many different motors Brunswick used for their machines. But I have the same machine and can send you a photo of the motor or photos of the other parts you might need.

I would love it if someday you would post pics of your collection, from one phonogal to the "original" Phonogal!phonogal wrote:I don't know how many different motors Brunswick used for their machines. Edited to add: I'm sorry Chilesave if I hijacked your thread for one post!

I will take a few pictures and post them on a different thread (sorry Chilesave)as I always love to show the phonographs to anyone interested in them (and even to those that aren't it seems. Just ask my friends and family) but my collection is very meager in comparison to a lot of the members of this forum.
