My friend had 500 ebay bucks and decided to buy this. He didn't even notice the missing tone arm..

He asked me and it doesn't look fake to me, but I'm no expert never bought any outside horn machines. Can anyone take a look so i can tell him if he made a mistake buying?

Re: ebay purchase
Looks like a legit Vic II to me, sans tonearm. Should be easy enough to find a replacement.

Seems even stranger that the bidder or another bidder with the "same" feedback number and bid amount made a retraction....bingchen1 wrote:not really brave,he is one of those Chinese dealer. He can ship a brand new fake replica to china and sell it for the price of a real one -_-.

Why?. Well, when you have a seller with a (0) next to their name AND a very low price....it raises red flags in most buyers eyes. Even more so when there are retractions. I hope for your friends sake it's all good.bingchen1 wrote:I'm pretty sure he retracted the bid..then bid again? Why? I have no clue..while on the subject if anyone have a tone arm for sale. By the way....if you are needing a part....Please post your "wants" in our "Yankee Trader" section.

The machine came yesterday and the motor doesn't work. It sounds like a broken mainspring and he asked me to take a look at it. Are the single spring motors much different from 2 or 4 spring? I never took apart a single spring before, any tips would be welcomed.

Re: ebay purchase
Certainly easier to replace than a two or three spring. However, if you have never changed one.....it can be risky and dangerous. You may want contact George Velloma "Great Lakes Phonograph" for a spring and he may guide you though it. The best advice I can give (if you have never done this) is have George do the job for your friend. At least it will be done "right" the first time and the motor will be checked for any unforeseen issues.bingchen1 wrote:The machine came yesterday and the motor doesn't work.
