For those of you who are not members of the Antique Phonograph Society, I want to let you know that the U.S. West Coast's largest Antique Phonograph, Record and Music Box Show will be held on August 10 and 11, 2013 in Buena Park, California. This will be at the U.F.C.W. Auditorium, 8530 Stanton Avenue, across from Knott's Berry Farm and only 15 minutes from Disneyland.
If you've attended the Antique Phonograph Society's show over the past 29 years, you know that you'll see some of the rarest and finest phonographs and music boxes in existence. Collectors drive across the country and fly into LAX and Ontario airports from around the world to attend this show. There are friendly, knowledgeable dealers and collectors who are happy to help you find a particular item or help restore the machine you're working on at home.
Other items at the show for sale include thousands of cylinder and disc records, vintage radios, roller organs, advertising, and books about the hobby. We encourage dealers to bring along items of invention that fit the theme of the late 19th and early 20th century technology which include antique fans, telegraphy, incandescent lighting, motion pictures, telephones, etc.. One never knows what will turn up at this show.
For more information on the show & sale, go to www.antiquephono.org and click on the Show & Sale icon.
I can't make it this year - darn it - but I'm already planning for 2014!
Best to all,
George Paul

Re: Annual Phonograph/Record Show & Sale This Weekend
I've been going every year for 15-20 years now and I'm absolutely gutted that family obligations this year will prevent my attending for the first time in long memory.
It's a very fun show and I have never come home without something exciting to make it all the more special. Probably my biggest score ever was the Devineau Biophone, but there have been many, many others. Last year I came home with my coin-op Zonophone and I'm still in awe of that stunning machine.
I hate to think that I'm going to miss such treasures this time. Not to mention the Saturday evening banquet, which is always a blast. Oh yeah, and the silent auction. Unbelievable how much great stuff comes out that doesn't even appear in the main show.
If you can possibly get there, do it. You won't be disappointed.
Unlike me, who is deeply disappointed to miss it for the first time in memory.

Sounds like a wonderful event. It's times like these that you wish you were closer.
Let's hope who ever is going will get some good pictures for us to gloat over.
Have a great day there

I've been going since 2002.It's a really great show and lots of bargains. I always come home with great stuff. I can't make it this year, either. An unforeseeable occurrence happened that prevented my presence there. Oh well. I plan to be there next year.
