Herzog Cabinet-Phonograph Cabinet?

Post by phonogal »

Has anyone seen this particular cabinet before? I'm going to look at it tomorrow and it is supposed to be for a phonograph. I'm confused by the shelfs. It looks more like a music cabinet to me but hard to tell if the shelfs pull out (for cylinders)? or are made to hold albums?

There's no needle storage and the shelves don't look overly sturdy. My semi-educated guess is sheet music cabinet. (But I hope I'm wrong!) Jerry

I thought music cabinet too but was wondering about the top that looks like it was made to hold a victrola(little side rails)?

I would say it's just the design of this cabinet. Some (as you may know) had a higher back panel and some even have a mirror. This one just has a small, low back molding.

Sheet music cabinet - but a nice one & worth getting if it isn't expensive.

It's not expensive but it's too far away to make the trip for a music cabinet. If it were closer, I'd probably get it though.

It is a sheet music / or Player piano roll cabinet. It would need slightly stronger shelves to support graphite records. I'm surprised it doesn't have a mirror on the back top.
If it is to be used or was designed to store phonograph records, you couldn't fill it fully.

I wouldn't pay more than 50 if you're having to spend as much or more on gas to get there. It's sitting in climate controlled storage facility.... That's nice - someone actually cares!
