Other than a selection by Len Spencer from the early 1890's on one of the Tinfoil CD's, and another by JJ Fisher on one of the Archeophone discs circa 1899-1902, I've never heard any orchestra accompaniment for a vocal before mid-1903 when Victor, and presumably Columbia commenced this practice in earnest.
Arthur Collins is listed as being accompanied by the Metropolitan Orchestra on some 1900-01 selections, and I purchased "Lam, Lam, Lam," A-502, because it was listed as such, only to find that the accompaniment was the usual piano. Does anyone have any of the others listed as having the aforementioned accompaniment?
I guess my other, more general question, would concern other titles by any other singers and companies that have orchestra accompaniment during the pre-1903 period. Surely there must be more than just a handful, or are there?
Thank you.
