Hello
I purchased an Edison B80 yesterday. It is missing it's grill, crank, original reproducer (It cam with an adapter to play 78s).
I have several requests and questions:
1. I would like to remove turntable so I can work on inside of cabinet. I have no experience with this model so I would appreciate any guidance.
2. Does anyone have a grill pattern or know where I can obtain one?
3. While I am waiting to find a crank can anyone provide me with the thread specs?
4. Can anyone provide me with a copy of the operating manual?
5. I assume the reproducer for this is the same as for an upright (i.e. Edison C-250)
Thanks - Jim

Re: Edison B80 Help
I can't answer all of your questions - I've never owned or operated a DD,
but I can't help but link to this website whenever I get a chance.
It hopefully helps with your second request.

He has a pattern for the B-80 and he's been a pleasure to deal with in the past.

Re: Edison B80 Help
If you do a search for "grills" in the Forum you will find a link to "Gramps Trieasures". He offers the B-80 grill for $45.

The turntable should lift straight up off the spindle.
*
I can't help much with the reproducer but it should have the nickel finish.
*
I think the female crank has the same thread as an Edison Triumph. I'd go to the "Links" section of the Forum and click on "Parts & Repairs". Wyatt's Musical Americana and Ron Sitko are excellent sources for reproduction parts. George V. has a ton of original parts.

Re: Edison B80 Help
I only have an A-80, not sure if the B-80 is similar. On the A-80 the turntable does not lift right off. The spindle is part of the turntable and there is a small oiling hole next to it. In order to remove the turntable you will have to remove the wooden top grill (wood screws all around, then it comes off in two parts that are interlocked by small pins). Then you remove the metal plate that the turntable sits on. When you turn that whole piece over you see where the spindle has the pulley for the belt drive and a little brass bushing on it. Both are fixed with little headless screws to the spindle. I would advise you not to try and take those apart if you don't have to, you may damage the cork lining of the pulley and then you'll have to try and build a new lining. If you open the little lid at the bottom that is fixed with two screws, be careful not to loose the little ball bearing in there. Unfortunately I did not take enough good pictures when I had it apart, but you'll get the idea when you look at your machine.
Should you find a copy of the original manual of these early belt driven models I would be interested as well.
Good luck!
Andreas

The B80 uses a standard DD reproducer.

Re: Edison B80 Help
Hello,
There is a parts machine B80 for sale on Craigslist Vancouver B.C. ( Canada) for $50.00 It appears to have the crank and reproducer. Maybe the guy would consider selling just the parts you need??

Re: Edison B80 Help
Thanks for the help. FYI - the threads on the shaft that the crank attaches to are ⅜ inch coarse. I put a nut on the shaft and am able to wind using a ratchet and a deep socket. Here are some before pictures.

Re: Edison B80 Help
The B-80 uses the same crank as any Home, Standard, Fireside, Triumph, etc. Part of the charm of the A-60/A-80/B-60/B-80 is their design/build similarity to cylinder Phonographs. The proper reproducer for this model would have the stylus mounting plate on the weight.

Re: Edison B80 Help
The B-80 crank is shorter than the ones for a Standard, Home, Fireside etc. These cranks are too long and the machine will look funny. I have the correct crank for sale. If you are interested, PM me.
