Auction Find - you never know what you'll find inside a Vic

Post by jimmantwo »

I went to an auction yesterday and purchased a VV XI in oak. A nice machine but I was more interested in what was inside the cabinet. There were several sealed Tungs Tone packs of needles, needle box in nice condition, a catalogue, a record duster, about 100 records in original sleeves in mostly pristine condition, and 4 children's books with 3 records in each. Here is a pic. When cleaning out the records I found a box marked 'Victrola Outfit part number 6156'. I had missed that when I inspected the machine. The box looks like it hadn't been touched since new. It contained additional sealed packets of needles, original instruction manual, soundbox inspection cert., original key, another needle box, and 2 envelopes which contained a records index and 'How to Get the Most Out of Your Victrola' - most everything in as new condition.

The unmolested "outfit" box and contents is a real treasurer. Congrats!

Good haul. If possible could you post a closer shot of the soundbox inspection cert. I have never seen one of these.

It wasn't just a VV-XI, it was a treasure chest! Did you feel like you won the lottery? Jerry

definitely a find... you should try, if you can, to keep all of this together as it's probably been that way for almost a century since new.

You have a time capsule. I'd keep it all together as it is part of the history of the machine. That's a real find.

I agree with everyone about keeping it all together. It's history and really cool. I have a few machines I've bought with all of the original goodies like that and I've always kept everything together.

Congrats!

Thanks I guess that wrapped around the box for the reproducer. You have some neat stuff there.
