CYGNET OR MUSIC MASTER

I'm thinking of buying a Cygnet or a Music Master and don't know which is best or how much better they are than a Morning glory.
I would be grateful for any opinions on this matter.

I guess you want a Music Master cygnet horn? wood horns were just cosmetic so go for what you prefer and what fits your budget.

Ultimately, the horn will be in your own home. So, it really is a "personal taste" decision on your part if you want a "wood or Metal" bell. Wood will cost you much more. If you are unable to find one in the UK.....you will pay a lot for shipping from North America.

By "better", do you mean performance or appearance? What Edison model needs the horn? Jerry

Hi Gordon,
How about giving us a picture of your Triumph machine so we can have a look. Does it already have the back bracket holes drilled in the rear panel? It would be less expensive to go with a straight horn if the cabinet is not already drilled. The other option is the #11 metal cygnet horn. It looks real nice on a Triumph and will cost you less than a wood one. Here are a few pictures of my Triumphs for comparison.

Hi Jerry and Pete,
What I mean is quality of sound, I prefer the look of the Music Master but I live in a very small house so I also wonder if it's going to look stupid. Like gramophone78 said another thing to think about is the cost of shipping and import tax. You can't seem to buy just a Cygnet horn without a phonograph over here. My wife spoke to Don[ Sights and sounds of Edison ]and he was very helpful, he's getting back to me on the shipping cost on one of his beautiful horns. Anyway here's some pic's I did put some on here when I finished doing it up a while ago. Thanks for the pic's Pete your machines look outstanding and it does give me an idea what mine would look like.

I think the deciding factor is whether the holes are already drilled in the back of the case. If not I would be reluctant to drill them, but that is your choice. Here is a picture of my model A with a #11 cygnet horn. I do not find any difference in the sound quality between the wood and metal cygnets.

Hi Pete, That looks right, I think if I can get one it will be a metal Cygnet. The holes for the bracket are there already. Gordon

Your Triumph appears to be a two minute player. Personally, it has always seemed odd when a two minute machine has a Cygnet horn. I doubt if any original owner would spend a significant amount of money for a horn and crane without taking advantage of the promotional offer of the 2&4 combination parts and Special cylinders to really upgrade their machine. If I owned your Triumph I would buy a really attractive after market flowered morning glory horn. Such a horn would look terrific, sound great, and be appropriate for a two minute machine. The possibilities are nearly endless.
