so now there is a whole bunch of deep groves in the turntable. The only problem is my turntable isn't made of felt it appears to be made of a hard leather like material. Does anyone know what The material is and where I can get it to recover it? Or should I just use felt?Turntable help

On my victor RE-45 the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to set the tone arm with a needle in it on the turntable so now there is a whole bunch of deep groves in the turntable. The only problem is my turntable isn't made of felt it appears to be made of a hard leather like material. Does anyone know what The material is and where I can get it to recover it? Or should I just use felt?
