Does this look like an older reproduction to you? If it is then who would you suggest that sells nice and new reproductions.
Please note the soldering where the brass bell meets the cone.
Not all original horns have "PAT APLD FOR" on them. Some have no stampings and some have TCoT (Tea Tray Co) oval logo stamped on them in the same place where the PAT APLD FOR stamping was.kirtley2012 wrote:IF it is Edison and original, it should say 'patent applied for' or something similar just above the seam where the bell meets the body.
Keep the one you have bought with the machine it is history of the machine if you buy an origainal horn it won't be the one the machoine came with so what's the difference ? Does it look OK ?oldphonographsteve wrote:Thanks so much for the help! I think I would have to agree with phonogfp that it does look like an old reproduction.
Now does anyone have any thoughts on where to buy a new and nice (ding and scratch free) reproduction, or maybe even a real nice original?![]()
Thanks,
Stephen
Normally, I'd be posting that advice, but when it comes to replacing a reproduction horn, I'd just document it and happily replace it with one that I like better. As long as we know that the "new" horn came from someplace else, then I really wouldn't worry too much about it.soundgen wrote: Keep the one you have bought with the machine it is history of the machine if you buy an origainal horn it won't be the one the machoine came with so what's the difference ?
