Dyeing turntable felt?

Post by Nat »

The felt on my Victor IV is original and in pretty good shape, but in the process of cleaning it, I managed to give it a very mottled look with some sections almost bleached. Does anyone know a way to re-dye the felt? I'm leaving it alone, but would like to "green it up a bit" if this can be done.

and yes, I get the klutz of the year award...!

The felt is compressed wool, so I would imagine there are wool dyes available that may help. Not sure it will solve your mottled look though?

You may have to bleach the felt first to create the right base colour. A light solution of peroxide may do the job or alternatively domestic bleach will do it but you really need to rinse this out thoroughly.
