Does anyone know of a good source for accurate replacement grill cloth for a Victor Credenza, or in this case, a Victor 10-50 changer. I bought a good, accurate cloth years ago, but cannot find that source now.

I think there is a thread (or two) on here if you do a search on a good cloth source. I know for a fact there is a source on the antique radio forum. You may wish to check there too.

Re: Grill Cloth for Victor Credenza
Below is a picture of a machine I am finishing a restoration on. The new grill cloth came from here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzUY4t2g ... DS8il4x6AA Just message the seller and say you need a piece 18 x 30 (I think). Was $36 including shipping.
It feels a little thicker than the original I removed (torn in a few places-large holes), but it installed the same way the old cloth was installed with the wooden splines, so it is not too thick. Slightly brighter cast to the gold than what I removed, but what I removed was almost 90 years old, so probably pretty close to the original.
Hope this helps.

Until just two or three years ago, you could get an exact duplicate made on the original looms from http://www.grillecloth.com/. Unfortunately their supplier went out of business and I understand that the looms were broken up for scrap and it is no more. Sad.

Re: Grill Cloth for Victor Credenza
I purchased a replacement cloth for my 8-30 from Ron Haring. The cloth wasn't cheap, but it is almost an exact match. From what I recall, I paid around $80.

Re: Grill Cloth for Victor Credenza
The cloth on my Credenza is pretty grungy, but it's all in one piece. I bought some replacement cloth a while ago, while it was still available, but I'm holding on to it as long as the old cloth hangs together. In my view, original trumps admittedly better-looking. And the sound is the real issue!

Re: Grill Cloth for Victor Credenza
In general I agree with you Nat. Unfortunately my Credenza had been in a storage space with no climate control for many years and the cloth had rotted into tatters. I was lucky in that that then the identical cloth was still being made.
