A DIY diaphragm for a soundbox

Post by windup »

I acquired a Goldring soundbox, as part of a second portable I bought for parts for the one I am restoring. It was very rattly, so I opened it up, and found the aluminium diaphragm was all squashed and bent. Maybe someone have attempted to fix it, and stuffed it up.

So, I went looking for some way to make my own. I ended up cutting a circle out of the lid of a plastic fast food container. A small hole in the centre for the screw, and it fitted nicely. I need to make a new red gasket, as the one it there is nearly perished, but for now, it is working. It is very loud, and clear.

Just thought I'd mention it as a possibility for others fixing up old soundboxes.
