Victrola VV-125 in American Walnut

Post by CDBPDX »

Just brought home a nifty old Victor VV-125 with American walnut finish. It needs a little sprucing up but it is all there and works. I dusted the top off a little bit and I think it's going to be spectacular when done. Yet another fun project! CDB

I think this is walnut...

Yes!..Please show more of this somewhat hard-to-find Victrola!
The walnut should be really nice when she's all cleaned up.

I'm going to the shoppe today and will get more pictures. It's sort of a diamond in the rough right now. Need some 'before' pics...

The most cool thing I think is the shaped motor board, shaped to fit the bowed sides.

I'm not that familiar with the later Victrolas. What is the difference between a VV 125 and a 130?

Harvey,
They both take their style from a VV-XVII. However, the #130 came out late in 1921 and the #125 1923. The #125 was redesigned with a larger horn opening and therefore larger horn doors. The #125 was only offer in three woods unless special order.

In addition, the motor boards in both the VV-130 and the VV-XVII are the common rectangles that fit in the turntable surface where the VV-125 has a large motor board that goes all the way across with curved edges to match the bowed sides. Very cool!!
