I'm looking for a victrola cabinet like a model 210 (low boy style) for a project. Needs to be in a reasonable drive from Philadelphia area.
Thanks, Ed

Your best bet would be an English machine - Victor didn't make oak cases at that time but they were the usual thing overseas.

Thanks, I didn't realize they didn't make the 210 and other low boy styles in oak. I can use mahogany but oak would have been better. I revised my posting.estott wrote:Your best bet would be an English machine - Victor didn't make oak cases at that time but they were the usual thing overseas.

The VV-210 was most certainly offered in Oak, as were some of the higher end models like the 230, 240, 260, 280 and 300, this verified by the latest edition of Look For The Dog. The 215 and 220 were not offered in Oak. I've seen a couple of 210s in Oak, but not nearly as many as in Mahogany. You'd have much better luck finding a Mahogany cabinet, for sure.

Thanks for the extra information - I went by experience, but you went by the book.

I've seen a 215 (a 215-S, no less) in oak. It was in that odd exaggerated blended finish that Victor offered on some of its oak machines in late 1924 and early 1925, almost black at the corners and very light in the centers of the panels.
I suspect that the finish was not terribly popular.
