I have a nice US Junior cylinder player--it is actually complete, except the pot-metal reproducer was in pieces. I have had a friend working on it for some time, and he has done wonders with what is there. I heard it play a 4 minute blue amberol for the first time the other day, and it sounded great! Only thing was, the reproducer carriage was being held together by all sorts of clips and rubber bands!!
Who has some spare parts for US Junior reproducers?? This is the one that is the double reproducer for playing both 2 and 4 minute cylinders, and has 2 feed screws, for the 2 and 4 minute cylinders. I seem to see the US cylinder players quite a bit, but ALWAYS missing the reproducer. If there are parts of it, they are usually so damaged as to not be usable. It is surprising that someone has not made repro parts for these reproducers. The cylinder player itself seemingly has a very well built motor that runs very quietly. But, again, there seems to never be anything out there reproducer-wise. My reproducer has both weights and good stylii for both. The feed screw bar and half-nut for engaging the 2 minute gearing was missing, but a substitute is trying to be made by a good friend.
Someone MUST have something in their parts box that might be usable for me. Any help would be appreciated!!
Any tricks or tips from someone experienced with working on these tricky reproducers would also be appreciated!!
