Hi,
I'm new to the forum and need a little advice. I'm working on a model 3 and need to disassemble the mainsprings. I think one of the two springs may be broken. this set has a split mainspring case with a shaft through the middle. I have the spring assembly out of the motor frame, but can't seem to get it apart.. I have the gear off the one end, and the pin behind the gear off. there's a washer behind that, but before the washer, is a ridge on the shaft that stops the washer from sliding off. Should that ridge be there, or is that my problem? It looks like if I could remove that washer, the shaft would slide right out.
I have been repairing antique radios for years, and this is the second victor that I've tried to repair. The first only needed work on the governor, and was easy, but I don't want to damage anything, so I'm looking for some help.
Thanks,
Bruce

I believe you need to turn the barrels a certain way and they will separate. It's been a few years since I did mine, so I could be mistaken....
If that doesn't work, post some photos.
