HELP- Problems with 2/4 min Suitcase Home

Post by Phonofreak »

I have a Suitcase Home with gearing problems. It play 4 minute records flawlessly. When I want to play 2 min. records, the clutch slips. I've worked on 2/4 min Model A-E Homes and Triumphs, and never had a problem. This has me baffled. I've taken everything apart, and cleaned several times, but I cannot get the 2 min. gearing to grip. Any solutions?

Well, I was up til midnight and got the Home working. For some reason the shifter lever wasn't getting the clutch all the way to engage the gears in the pulley. It required the proper alignment, trial and error to get it right. I did minute adjustments to the geared end bearing, and then it worked.

I have a converted Edison Home B that I had the same problems with. I fussed with it for a long time before I was able to get everything just right. I also have a couple of 2&4 Triumphs without the shift lever and those are easy to get right.
