Yes. You can find several on YouTube. Tried to embed one here, but can't get it to work.edisonplayer wrote:On Tuesday the 8th I'll be going to the Forum in Binghamton,NY to see the 1926 silent movie"Ben Hur"starring Ramon Novarro and Francis X.Bushman,That day I'll be playing 1926 tunes on my Credenza.Mine is a 1926 model. Also,I was wondering if Ramon Novarro made any recordings? He had a beautiful voice.edisonplayer

I wonder if that's going to be a 35mm film copy or digital.
Silents just don't look as good projected digitally, and the experience of seeing them on film will be in the future a rare one.
And then you have those that say they never looked as good as when they we on nitrate. But that's also an experience afforded to a very few (not the general public) anymore.

Here's one of my favorites, "How Can You Be So Charming," from "Devil May Care," 1929:

I think the camera work is exceptional for an early Talkie, and Ramon really shows his potential to become a musical star. (Unfortunately, that was not to be.)

I was under the impression that he recorded for some of the major companies, but the only reference I've been able to spot, so far, is this one -- http://www.popsike.com/HMV-B8426-Ramon- ... 54372.html
I did find this -- https://archive.org/details/RamonNovarr ... Alcala1930 -- but cannot find any reference to the actual recording--label, matrix, catalog number, etc. (I'm wondering if this was culled from the soundtrack.)

2EA-2401-1: Ramon Novarro Medley, Part 2 (Charming/Shepherd's Serenade/The Night Is Young)
Both issued on HMV C.2778 (12-inch)
23 March 1936:
0EA-2724-2: Long Ago in Alcala
0EA-2725-2: El Relicario
Both issued on HMV B.8426 (10-inch)

I saw "Ben Hur"last night, and it was a real treat. My neighbor and good friendenjoyed it also. They had never seen a silent movie before.I bought the sheet music for "Ben Hur Chariot Race March"from a friend who set up a booth there.I also picked up the piece on a Columbia record by Prince's Band.edisonplayer
